Thu, Feb 11, 2009: GreenExcel Inc, a premier LEED education and consulting firm based in Boston announced plans to collaborate with government councils to help in green building certification in India and Indonesia.

With abundance of solar, ocean water, wind power and forestry products, South East Asian countries are the perfect target for deployment green technologies and development of sustainable buildings. A large scale effort to implement standards based construction or upgrade of existing facilities has so far not happened. Now the government and several private sector organizations are being proactive to develop standards similar to USGBC LEED, but more attuned to the local industry standards. The overall green market in Indonesia, for example, is estimated to be above USD $10B.

GreenExcel programs have trained thousands of LEED professionals in USA and Canada, and have now been launched in India. The company plans to work with regulatory organizations to develop new standards for green construction. More information regardin gthe program will be available in March, said a company spokesperson.
